My Story

Welcome to my story. I'm running the London Marathon in April 2026 for a cause close to my heart: Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This is my journey to raise awareness and funds in memory of my mum, who I sadly lost to this devastating illness many years ago. Thank you for being here.

Running for a reason

I'm running to raise awareness and vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Those that know me will know that from early years to my ripe age of 52 that I have been a heavy drinker and smoker (Both of which I have given up for this journey) Not a fitness fanatic but always determined and never gives up.

My mother passed away from MND, and every step I take in this marathon is dedicated to her memory and to all those affected by this disease. It's crucial that we increase awareness so others can get early diagnosis and support.

Memories of mum

All memories of my mother are special to me. She was the most amazing person, and I miss her every day. Her strength and love continue to inspire me, and I carry her in my heart with every step I take. It's her memory that fuels my determination to complete this marathon and make a difference in the fight against MND.

Join the cause

Beyond donations, I would be so grateful if you could share this cause and my story with your friends, family, and network. Together, we can amplify the message and gather even more support for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Every share makes a difference.

"This is one of the proudest things I’ve ever shared.

Alan is running the London Marathon 2026 to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease — the disease that took his mum far too soon.

Watching a parent suffer from MND is something no one should ever have to experience. It’s cruel, relentless, and it changes you forever. Losing his mum left a hole in his life that can never truly be filled.

For many years after, he struggled.. Carrying pain he didn’t know how to put down. But instead of letting that be the end of his story, he’s choosing to do something massive.. something incredibly brave.

He’s stopped drinking.. He’s stopped smoking.. (and if you know Alan, you will know that’s a huge achievement in itself) And he’s pushing his body and mind further than ever before — training for the 2026 London marathon — all in his mum, Shirley’s memory.

This run is about grief, love, redemption, and hope. It’s about honouring his mum and helping other families who are facing the same heartbreaking reality.

If you can donate, even a small amount, or simply share his JustGiving page, it would mean more to him than I can put into words. Every pound helps fund vital research and support for those living with MND!!

LETS REMIND HIM THAT THIS RACE ISN’T ONE HES RUNNING ALONE ♥️♥️♥️

Sending Love & Thank you for reading 💪🙌🫶"
